My speech titled "Be Brave, Not Perfect," celebrates the Class of 2022 and the transformative power of bravery, particularly for women. From facing a brave new environment with Midwestern tornadoes to challenging societal expectations, I shared personal anecdotes and the wisdom of Reshma Saujani to encourage my peers, of all gender identity, to choose bravery over perfection. With gratitude for the supportive Denison community, I envisioned a world where our authenticity and bold choices make us powerful agents of change. I concluded with a call to be brave, even when we feel unprepared – whether that be facing a storm, pandemic, or social pressure – and a spirited "Rock n Roll Denny!"
